WOMEN'S
SYMPOSIUM

“Key Takeaways: Believe in yourself, ask for help when needed, and celebrate your achievements!”

Absolutely fantastic few days with my colleagues Jane Wilson and Olivia Brady at the first PIMFA women’s symposium 2024. A wealth of speakers from all over the industry on hot topics in wealth and investments (as well as lots of personal development topics).

Loved hosting this panel – what trailblazing, inspiring women. True pioneers and continue to be generous with their time and advice.

A heartfelt thank you to Sheree Howard for her authentic and inspiring speech at the Pimfa symposium opener. Her insights on “Reaping the Rewards of Investing in Women” not only moved us but also called us to action. I truly appreciate her honest approach in highlighting the significant impact of supporting women in our field. Sheree’s words have set a powerful and inspiring tone for the symposium! Thank you PIMFA for organising the brilliant symposium!

“Was an honour to be part of this!”

“Best event!”

It was an incredible couple of days, both as a speaker for the amazing experience and also meeting the most talented women in the industry. A wonderful achievement, you must all be so proud.

Brilliant speakers, insightful content, helpful advice – the event was buzzing and attendees loved it. Deborah Garlick spoke on the main stage and said after the event; ‘It was so inspirational to see so much time, thought and investment in helping women thrive in the financial sector. It was a pleasure to be with you on the first of what I hope will be many more to come. First class!

“What an honour to be on the line up of speakers at PIMFA’s inaugural Women’s Symposium this afternoon!”

So pleased I attended the PIMFA Women’s Symposium this week – the event was a dynamic mix of inspiration, entertainment, education and profound insights. Engaging with remarkable women and supportive male allies across the industry was enlightening. From deep dives into investment topics, to personal development sessions, every moment was a catalyst for growth.

What a fantastic experience and a thoroughly enjoyable session to be involved with. Petronella West and Susan Hope were amazing.

A fantastic day at PIMFA’s Women’s Symposium. In the financial industry is it incredible to attend an event attended by so many wonderful women!

“A fabulous event and one of the best conferences I’ve been to.
Look forward to next year!”

We were proud to sponsor this event and I have been hearing and seeing so much positive feedback across the industry. Colleagues that attended the two day event came back inspired and have been sharing insights from the incredible speakers. Excited to see what the PIMFA team come up with for next year.

I had the pleasure of attending the PIMFA Women’s Symposium! It was two days filled with motivational talks, regulatory updates and valuable insights into the financial industry. Throughout the day, there were some standout quotes that resonated with me:

  • If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together
  • It’s not just enough to survive, you need to thrive Only in the presence of pressure do we see how far we can go
  • Women shouldn’t be part of your DE&I in the workforce, but part of your BAU

“It was a great pleasure to take part in this fantastic event with these inspirational women and all of those attending !”

Empowering Myself for Success! Caroline Holt’s insights on managing imposter syndrome and building self-confidence really resonated with me. I realized that everyone feels it, but with courage, resilience, and compassion for ourselves, we can overcome it!

Congratulations PIMFA for raising this essential topic. With nearly 40 years’ experience in wealth management, I’m a keen advocate for women to engage with their finances as I’ve seen so many lose out due to a lack of basic money management skills. Come on ladies, let’s start talking about money!

“What an authentic & uplifting session, thank you!”

Huge thank you to PIMFA for an inspiring two days at the woman’s symposium! Was great hearing about the importance of equality in the finance sector and to see women empowering each other in such a significant industry!

I found the PIMFA Women’s Symposium insightful and I have come away with so much to reflect and act on. I’ve been enlightened as a woman and a mother – I was struck by the impact of the gender pay gap and its subsequent impact on the gender pension gap… not that I am nearing retirement- Financial education is key to closing this gap. I loved Susan Hope APFS ‘s example of going through her payslip with her daughter and helping her understand what it all means, and I will be implementing that moving forward. However, parents through financial education alone cannot do it. Financial education alone is not enough. Organisations need to take action to create truly inclusive work environments that provide opportunities for everyone to thrive. This is a much-needed initiative.

Attending the PIMFA Women’s Symposium was an incredible experience. The event brought together inspiring and pioneering women in the wealth and investment management space. As the saying goes, “Only surround yourself with people who will lift you higher,” and I couldn’t agree more. I felt privileged to spend time with some of the incredible women in our company and listen to speakers who highlighted how far women have come in the industry and how much still needs to be done.

Unlike the usual networking events, PIMFA curated an inspiring platform that brought together speakers from all backgrounds and audience members, fostering insightful discussions on a range of topics relevant to the Financial Services industry. Some key takeaways: Shifting Wealth Dynamics:

1. Financial Conduct Authority’s Sheree Howard reminded that women, either through their own wealth accumulation or generational shifts, are projected to control 70% of global wealth. Additionally, Sneha Sanghrajka Shah SEI emphasised the significant wealth contributions expected from emerging markets, indicating a fundamental shift in global wealth dynamics.

2. Changing Role of #Financial Advisors: #Wealthmanagers and #IFAs are evolving into concierges rather than solely financial advisors, assisting clients with a broader spectrum of life decisions. Diverse talent is increasingly vital for navigating this changing landscape, as collaboration becomes key to long-term success.

Such engaging and thoughtful speakers, and an excellent opportunity for professional and personal development. On behalf of all of us at Raymond James Investment Services, it was a privilege to support you in your efforts!

“You are amazing Liz and that results in an amazing team. I am so impressed by you and your team!”

There is something extraordinarily inspiring about being in a room full of woman, all exceptional leaders, sharing their true selves and their true stories, at the PIMFA Women’s Symposium 2024. Fabulous speakers, fabulous agenda and great craic! Can’t wait for next year. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. No one is you, and that is your superpower.
